You cannot meaningfully accelerate this process with a single product, and no tea will flush your system clean in seven days.
What you can do — and what the research on certain herbs supports — is provide your liver and body with antioxidant compounds that reduce oxidative stress, support the enzymatic processes the liver uses for detoxification, and lower the inflammatory load that chronic stress and poor diet create. That is a more modest claim. It is also a real one.
Eternal Spring is built on five ingredients. Here is what the evidence says about each.
Hibiscus: the headline ingredient
Hibiscus (Hibiscus sabdariffa) has one of the strongest research profiles of any ingredient in Eternal Spring, and the research most directly relevant to the "detox and vitality" intent of this blend.
On antioxidant activity: hibiscus anthocyanin extract has been shown to produce significant scavenging effects on free radicals including superoxide ions and hydrogen peroxide, with reducing power approximately twice that of the synthetic antioxidant butylated hydroxyanisole. More specifically for detoxification: a study published in Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture found that hibiscus anthocyanin extract induced phase II drug-detoxifying enzymes — specifically glutathione S-transferase, NAD(H):quinone oxidoreductase, and uridyl diphosphoglucuronosyl transferase — by 65%, 45%, and 57% respectively. These are the enzymes the liver uses to neutralise and eliminate harmful compounds. This is the most direct evidence in the range for a genuine detoxification mechanism, not just antioxidant activity.
On liver protection specifically: multiple studies — primarily animal models — have found that hibiscus extract reduces liver damage markers, decreases lipid peroxidation, and preserves antioxidant enzyme levels under conditions of induced liver stress. One human clinical trial found that consumption of hibiscus extract over 12 weeks reduced body weight, body fat, and serum free fatty acids, and improved liver steatosis — the condition where excess fat accumulates in liver cells — in a group of overweight adults.
The caveat: most of the mechanistic liver research uses concentrated extracts, not brewed tea. The direction of the evidence is consistent and the human trial exists — but concentrations in a daily cup will be lower than in these studies.
Rosemary: the antioxidant backbone
Rosemary appears in both Focus Flow and Moonlit Calm, where its cognitive and sleep-support properties are covered in detail. In Eternal Spring, rosemary plays a different role: antioxidant protection.
Rosemary's two primary phenolic diterpenes — carnosic acid and carnosol — have been identified as responsible for approximately 90% of the herb's antioxidant properties. Both are powerful inhibitors of lipid peroxidation, a process where free radicals damage cell membranes, and both are effective scavengers of peroxyl radicals — one of the most damaging classes of free radical in the body. Carnosic acid has also been shown to protect against oxidative stress in liver microsomes specifically, suggesting a particular relevance to liver-related antioxidant defence.
Rosmarinic acid, a third major compound in rosemary, adds further antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity, with research describing its scavenging activity against free radicals as stronger than that of caffeic acid, chlorogenic acid, and folic acid.
In the context of Eternal Spring, rosemary is supporting the blend's antioxidant load — working alongside hibiscus to reduce the oxidative stress environment in which the liver and other organs operate.
Lemongrass: the anti-inflammatory contributor
Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus) is well-established in traditional medicine across Asia, Africa, and South America as a digestive herb and general tonic. The modern research on lemongrass is encouraging but requires honest framing.
The primary bioactive compounds in lemongrass are citral — a naturally occurring aldehyde that gives lemongrass its characteristic lemony scent — along with quercetin and a range of phenolic compounds. Lemongrass demonstrates antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity in preclinical research, with citral specifically shown to inhibit the release of pro-inflammatory markers. A scoping review of lemongrass essential oil clinical research found evidence of antibacterial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties across multiple study models.
The honest limitation: most clinical research on lemongrass is on its essential oil, applied topically or used in aromatherapy, rather than on brewed lemongrass tea taken orally. The preclinical evidence for oral lemongrass is promising — antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects have been demonstrated in cell and animal models — but large-scale human trials on lemongrass tea specifically are limited.
What lemongrass reliably contributes to Eternal Spring is a meaningful source of antioxidant polyphenols and a pleasant, bright citrus note — and a long history of traditional use as a digestive and vitality herb that the emerging research is beginning to substantiate.
Orange blossom: fragrance and phenolic content
Orange blossom (Citrus aurantium flowers) has the longest history of any ingredient in this blend as a traditional remedy — used across Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, and European herbal medicine for centuries for its calming and digestive properties.
The modern research is largely focused on neroli essential oil — the steam-distilled extract of orange blossom flowers — rather than on dried flowers used in brewed tea. A 2025 review published in PMC confirms that Citrus aurantium flowers are a rich source of bioactive compounds including polyphenols, flavonoids, alkaloids, and terpenes, and that the blossom demonstrates antioxidant, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory properties in research. The methanolic extract has documented significant antioxidant activity, with a total phenolic content that correlates directly with free radical scavenging.
The gap: clinical evidence for orange blossom consumed as a brewed tea is limited. The antioxidant compounds are present and documented; the clinical translation to oral tea consumption has not been extensively studied in human trials.
Orange blossom contributes to Eternal Spring's antioxidant profile and is what gives the blend its distinctive floral warmth. We include it because of its well-documented phytochemical content and its long history of traditional use — not because we have robust human trial data on tea form specifically.
Osmanthus: traditional use with emerging evidence
Osmanthus (Osmanthus fragrans) flowers have been used in Chinese culture for over 2,500 years as a beverage addition, culinary ingredient, and traditional remedy. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, osmanthus is used for its properties related to phlegm reduction, digestive support, and general vitality.
The modern research on osmanthus is thin relative to hibiscus and rosemary, and we want to be direct about that. What exists is meaningful in direction if limited in scale. An animal study published in Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine found that orally administered osmanthus flower extract demonstrated significant antioxidant activity in vivo, increasing glutathione levels in the lungs and spleens of mice while decreasing markers of oxidative stress. Modern pharmacological research has also documented neuroprotective, antidiabetic, and antioxidant properties in osmanthus compounds. A separate study on osmanthus flower beverage in healthy humans found that it increased antioxidant capacity following consumption, though the study was small.
Osmanthus is in Eternal Spring for its gentle antioxidant contribution, its cultural resonance as a traditional vitality herb, and the flavour complexity it adds to the blend. We acknowledge that the human clinical evidence is limited — and we think you should know that when you drink it.
How Eternal Spring comes together
The five ingredients in Eternal Spring are not all at the same level of clinical evidence — and we have been deliberately honest about that across each section. Hibiscus leads with the most substantiated research. Rosemary adds a well-documented antioxidant profile. Lemongrass, orange blossom, and osmanthus contribute meaningful phytochemical content with a body of traditional use behind them, supported by preclinical evidence of varying depth.
What they share is a consistent direction: antioxidant activity, support for the body's natural detoxification mechanisms, and anti-inflammatory properties that reduce the oxidative load the liver and other organs work against every day.
"Detox" as a marketing promise is largely empty. "Detox" as a description of supporting the body's own systems with antioxidant-rich herbs — consumed consistently, as part of a considered daily routine — is something the research supports.
